Apply through ERAS
Residents are chosen through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). Please apply through the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS). You’ll need to submit the following documents:
- Personal statement
- Curriculum vitae (CV)
- Three letters of recommendation
- Medical school transcript
- Medical school performance evaluation (Dean’s Letter)
- USMLE or COMLEX transcript
- Photograph
- Current ECFMG status report (for international medical graduates)
Application
Applications are accepted through December 15th for the following academic year.
Interviews are granted by invitation only, based on selection criteria decided by the program.
The Aurora Transitional Year Residency does NOT:
- Sponsor H visas
- Host J-1/J-2 visas through ECFMG
- Publish testing score minimums, since every application received is considered in its entirety

Salary & benefits
Your choice of residency training should be based on the educational merits of the program, not special benefits or perks. While our emphasis is on medical education, we value the contributions of our housestaff and offer a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
In addition to the general housestaff benefits, Transitional Year residents receive the following educational stipends:
- $450 for books, medical equipment required by the program, journal subscriptions and computer software
- $1,000 conference stipend, at the program director’s discretion
