Visitor information & amenities at Aurora Medical Center - Grafton

Visitor policy

All Aurora facilities have a visitor policy in place that helps us ensure safe care. See our visitor policy

Parking

There is plenty of parking around the hospital.

Visiting hours

We welcome visitors at any time; however, the intensive care unit (ICU) does have set visiting hours.

ICU visiting hours are from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. We ask that there are no more than two visitors at one time. Overnight visits are discouraged.

Food service

The cafeteria is located on the ground floor of the hospital. Hours of operation are from 6:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Hot and cold entrées, sandwiches, desserts and beverages are available. Microwaves and vending machines are also accessible and are located near the cafeteria and the emergency department (ED). Room service is available from 6:30 a.m.-7 p.m. for our patients.

Vending Areas: Located in the main lobby and ED. Open 24 hours per day with a variety of hot and cold food items, beverages, ice cream and snacks.

General information

Valuables will be sent home with your family or placed in security. Food may be brought in within dietary restrictions. A doctor’s order is required for alcoholic beverages. Visitors are reminded that we are a smoke-free institution.

ICU family waiting area

The ICU Family Waiting Area is located at the entrance to the unit on the second and third floors. Rest areas, quiet rooms, telephones and refreshments are available to make your visit more comfortable.

Care partner rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis, providing an area to rest and sleep for families who wish to spend the night. Sofa beds are provided in patient rooms. Please speak with the health unit coordinator when you arrive if you are interested.

The Surgical Waiting Area is located on the second floor of the hospital.

Patient safety

To ensure the safety of our patients and visitors, the main entrance is locked 8 p.m.-5 a.m. Monday-Friday, and 8:30 p.m.-7 a.m. on weekends. The ED entrance is open 24/7.

Pets

If you’re staying at an Aurora Medical Center for treatment, your dog can be brought in to visit with the permission of your care provider. Typically, dogs are the only pets allowed to visit, but you may ask your provider about other pets. The decision to allow other visiting pets is made on a case-by-case basis.

Ask your provider for details.

Spiritual care

The chapel is open to patients and visitors 24 hours a day. The chapel is located on the second floor. Members of all faiths are welcome. Chaplains are on call 24 hours a day. Please ask the nurse caring for you and your family to contact them for you.

Telephones

Telephones are available in patient rooms. To ensure a restful night, no incoming calls to patient rooms are received between 10 p.m.-7 a.m. For ICU patients, a designated spokesperson should contact the patient's nursing station to inquire about his or her status.

Visiting with children

Children are welcome to visit. Family members must maintain continuous supervision of children at all times. Kids are not allowed to wander unattended or disturb other patients.

Any child with a communicable disease or obvious illness will be restricted from patient contact and areas.
