Emergency drills
The hospital conducts routine safety drills. You may see flashing lights or hear a series of bells or announcements that signal an emergency drill. During these drills, your door may be closed. Please stay in your room unless told otherwise by the nursing staff.
Mail and floral deliveries
We will not be accepting flower or gift deliveries until further notice for the safety of our patients and team members. Thank you for understanding.
Infection control
To reduce the spread of germs, please do not visit a patient if you have symptoms of a cold, flu or other illness. The patient's bathroom is for the patient's use only. Family and friends should use the public restrooms. Medical studies have shown that waterless hand gel is the best method to clean hands. At certain times soap and water can be used. Remind people around you to use hand gel or soap and water to clean their hands.
Lost
To prevent losing your personal items, please label and keep them in your bedside stand. These items could get lost in bedding, on food trays or in gown pockets. If you lose something, tell the nursing staff right away. Our security staff will make every effort to find it. If we find an item after you leave, we will contact you to arrange for pick-up or delivery.
Medical equipment/electrical devices
For your safety, electrical devices or appliances, including battery chargers and computers, cannot be brought into the intensive care units. In other areas of the hospital, these may be allowed but must be approved by your nurse. The clinical engineering team may need to test some devices or appliances.
Personal property
Bring your ID and insurance cards with you to the hospital. You may also bring personal care items, pajamas, a robe, slippers or shoes. Please put your name on all items, including eyeglasses, hearing aids and assistive devices such as canes or walkers.
Please do not bring valuables, large amounts of cash, personal papers or jewelry.
Pets
If you’re staying at an Aurora Medical Center for treatment, your dog can be brought in to visit with the permission of your care provider. Typically, dogs are the only pets allowed to visit, but you may ask your provider about other pets – the decision to allow other visiting pets is made on a case-by-case basis.
Ask your provider for details.
Satisfaction survey
You may receive a Patient Satisfaction Survey from the hospital asking about your stay. Please fill out the survey and mail it back in the stamped envelope provided. We take pride in the quality of the services we provide to you, but we know that there is always room for improvement. We will consider your comments and respond to areas that need attention. Thank you for helping improve our hospital.
