For nearly a century, our current Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center has provided compassionate care to the community. To better accommodate the needs of this growing region, we’re building a new medical center to expand access to care for the communities in and around Sheboygan County.
The new Aurora Medical Center – Sheboygan County will be a state-of-the-art facility offering inpatient care, an emergency department, services for surgical, behavioral health and pediatrics, and a comprehensive center of excellence for cardiology and orthopedics.
With clinic and hospital locations on the same campus, you’ll be able to get the care you need while staying close to home.
The new 113-bed community hospital will include a medical office building collaboratively providing care in orthopedics and sports health, women’s health, cardiology, pulmonology, general surgery and a neonatal intensive care unit. This campus will also include inpatient and outpatient surgical services, and a dedicated unit for inpatient adult and adolescent behavioral health services.
In addition, the facility will feature healthy spaces both inside and outside including a healing garden, walking trail, outdoor staff respite area, dedicated space for behavioral health patients, and sports health programming for team members and the community.
Additional space for community utilization has been set aside including conference space for health-related community and support groups, outdoor sports performance facilities for area students and teams, and employer services like an on-site clinic, retail pharmacy and laboratory services.

Redeveloping current hospital site
As we continue with plans to build Aurora Medical Center – Sheboygan County, we’re committed to engaging our Sheboygan-area neighbors about the sale and redevelopment of the current Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center campus.
We’re committed to operating our existing Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center until the new medical center is completed. We anticipate seeing patients at the new center in 2022, at which time we’ll begin shifting services from the existing Sheboygan campus to the new campus.
Within 36 months after issuance of an occupancy permit for the new medical center, we will partner with the city of Sheboygan to remove all material from the buildings and make improvements on the current Sheboygan campus property. Once the site has been restored to an environment suitable for future development, a third-party developer can begin redevelopment of the site in a manner consistent with the surrounding neighborhood.
