Diagnostic Sonography job shadowing
Job shadowing is required prior to applying to the sonography program. Shadow candidates must be 18 or older.
- Each candidate must complete a minimum of four (4) hours in cardiac AND a minimum of four (4) hours in general/vascular
- Acceptable sites for job shadowing experience are a hospital or medical center
Applicants must document their shadowing experience. Documentation should include:
- The name of the facility where the shadowing occurred
- Total number of hours
- A signature by the sonographer who provided the shadowing experience

Available times
Shadow experiences at Aurora Health Care are conducted weekdays between 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Shadowing will not be scheduled on weekends or holidays.
You should have dates and times in mind prior to scheduling your appointment.

Day of the shadow experience
Bring a valid photo ID to your scheduled appointment. You will be interacting with our patients during the shadow experience, so it’s important to appear clean, neat and professionally dressed.
The following attire is recommended:
- Dress pants
- Appropriate shirt or top
- Leather shoes that fully enclose the foot
The following attire is not allowed:
- Blue jeans
- Cropped/tank tops
- Shirts or tops with writing, messages or advertisements
- Open-toed shoes or sandals
