Types of cardiovascular imaging

• Stress test: This test helps doctors see if your heart gets enough blood while you exercise. Technicians first create images of your blood flow to your heart while you rest, then again as you exercise on a treadmill or stationary bike.
• Nuclear cardiology imaging: This safe, noninvasive diagnostic procedure uses small amounts of radioactive material to create images of your body’s internal organs and structures to help your doctors see how your heart and related systems are functioning.
• Positron emission tomography (PET) scan: This test helps your doctor and involves injecting a small amount of a radioactive chemical into your arm to create images of your body’s metabolic processes.
