Tummy tuck surgery
Find a doctorA tummy tuck is surgery that removes extra fat and skin from the waist for a smaller, firmer midsection. It can also repair muscles that are weak or have separated from the skin. Doctors call the procedure an abdominoplasty.
Sometimes exercise and eating right isn’t enough to keep your abdomen toned. Your tummy can bulge or sag because of pregnancy, aging, weight changes, surgeries or heredity. If you’re unhappy with your abdomen, a tummy tuck can help.
What to expect from a tummy tuck
Before the procedure, your doctor will meet with you to answer any questions and help you decide if a tummy tuck is right for you.
During the procedure, your surgeon will make a horizontal incision below your belly button, then repair weakened muscles and remove excess skin, tissue and fat. If you have extra skin in your upper abdomen, you may need a second incision. Both will be closed with stitches, tape, skin adhesive or clips. Your Aurora care team will work with you every step of the way, from consultation through recovery, offering compassionate, comprehensive care.
