Aurora Joint Academy
Preparing for joint replacement surgery
At Aurora Health Care, we believe that the better prepared you are for surgery, both physically and emotionally, the greater your potential for a swift and successful recovery. Our educational Joint Academy class prepares you for what to expect before, during and after joint replacement surgery.
During this educational class, you’ll learn things like:

Comprehensive joint replacement care
Our free Joint Academy program is just one advantage of choosing joint replacement surgery at Aurora. We also offer:
- The latest knee replacement procedures: We offer advanced knee replacement options including robot-assisted and minimally invasive total knee replacement, partial knee replacement, ACL-sparing knee replacement, knee resurfacing (MAKOplasty®), bilateral knee replacements and knee revision. Learn more about knee replacement surgery.
- Advanced hip replacement options: Since we offer a number of different hip replacement options, we can provide the right procedure for your unique needs. Our available treatments include direct anterior hip replacement (from the front), conventional hip replacement, hip resurfacing, hip revision and bilateral hip replacement (both sides). Find out more about hip replacement surgery.
- A large orthopedic surgery team: Our expert joint replacement team is one of Wisconsin’s largest, with more than 70 orthopedic surgeons – many of whom are fellowship-trained. Fellowship-trained surgeons have pursued additional training in orthopedic surgery after medical school to gain the expertise needed to perform even the most complex procedures. And when you attend Aurora Joint Academy, you can ask questions about how they approach procedures like yours.
- Coordinated care: Aurora Joint Academy helps you plan for your upcoming surgery by letting you get to know some of the experts who will guide you from your hospital stay through your rehabilitation. Joint Academy teachers include registered nurses, physical therapists and occupational therapists. These caregivers work closely with other departments, like primary care, sports health and physical therapy, to discuss and make decisions about your treatment plan. And all of your Aurora providers share one electronic health record so they are always on the same page about your progress.
