Choosing your primary care provider

Find a doctor

From providing routine care to helping manage complex conditions, the right doctor can make all the difference in getting you the care you need to stay well. With more than 800 primary care providers on our team, we’re dedicated to finding the best provider for you.

What types of primary care specialties are offered?

One of the first steps in choosing a primary care provider is determining which specialty best meets your needs. You'll find these primary care specialists at Aurora:

  • Family medicine: These doctors specialize in treating people of all ages. From newborns to older adults, our family medicine doctors care for your entire family. Meet our family medicine doctors.
  • Internal medicine: Our internal medicine doctors specialize in caring for people ages 18 and older, and some doctors specialize in meeting the unique needs of older adults. Meet our internal medicine doctors.
  • OB-GYN (women’s health care): Many obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN) doctors also provide primary care services to women. These services include women’s health screenings, such as pelvic exams. Meet our OB-GYNs.
  • Children’s health: Many children receive primary care from Aurora’s pediatric experts. These doctors deliver personalized care while making sure your child reaches age-appropriate milestones, such as learning to walk and talk. Meet our pediatrics team.
  • Advanced practice providers (APPs): Our APPs include nurse practitioners and physician assistants with specialized training to treat most of the same conditions our doctors treat. Meet our physician assistants and nurse practitioners.

What else should you consider?

In addition to choosing a doctor based on specialty, these tips may be helpful, too.

  • Personal needs and preferences: Search primary care provider profiles by age, gender and spoken language. Many profiles also include a brief video, allowing you to learn more about a provider's background and qualifications.
  • Location: We make it easy to get care close to home. Aurora providers are in clinics throughout eastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. Find a location.
  • Insurance accepted: Find out whether your preferred provider accepts your health insurance by viewing our list of health plans we accept or by calling your local Aurora clinic at 888-863-5502.

Placing your trust in our team
