Chiropractic care
Helping you stay active without pain: Sports injuries and everyday wear and tear can be tough on your joints, including your knees and spine. Joint pain from these problems can make participating in activities painful – if not impossible. Seeing an Aurora chiropractor can help you feel better in as little as one visit.
What is chiropractic care?
A chiropractor is a doctor who specializes in treating problems in your joints and nearby soft tissues. Chiropractic care uses hands-on techniques to relieve joint pain and restore normal functioning. Contrary to popular belief, this type of care isn’t just for back problems – a chiropractor can deliver lasting pain relief to joints all over the body.
Chiropractic care is one of many treatments available through our integrative medicine program. Integrative medicine helps you overcome injury and illness naturally – without using drugs or surgery. Find out more about integrative medicine.
Chiropractic care for joint pain
When you’re in pain, it can be hard to get around. That’s why we make it easy to get care you need from a chiropractor in one location. Our chiropractors often work in the same clinics as doctors, physical therapists and other specialists, coordinating all the details of your care so you can focus on getting better.
Highlights of our chiropractic program include:
- Expertise: Our chiropractic team includes more than 50 licensed experts – some with additional training in sports medicine and rehabilitation. Our chiropractors specialize in helping active people overcome injuries even when standard treatments haven’t been successful. Find out more about our chiropractors.
- Broad range of treatments: We offer all the latest chiropractic treatments, including the active release technique and light therapy. The active release technique is a special therapy to loosen tight tissue deep within the muscle, while light therapy is said to jumpstart your body’s natural healing process. No matter which treatment a chiropractor recommends, most people are back to their normal activities, including sports, in two to three weeks.
- Convenience: We often perform chiropractic care for people who come in for another reason, like a free injury evaluation. If you’re in a lot of pain, a chiropractor may be able to help you on the spot. We also offer same-day appointments with a chiropractor throughout the week.

Expert chiropractic services & injury care
Our chiropractors start by taking a closer look at the way you move. Your chiropractor may also apply gentle pressure to determine precisely which joints and supporting tissue need treatment. Your chiropractor will then explain your treatment options and together make a plan to help you get lasting relief.
Your treatment may include:
- Self-care recommendations: Our chiropractors will help you modify daily activities, like getting in and out of a car, to relieve strain on your joints. Taking care of your joints is an important way to prevent injuries. Our chiropractors may also recommend gentle exercise, such as walking or special stretches, to help reduce joint pain and increase joint function if you’re healing from an injury.
- Chiropractic manipulation or adjustment: We can help restore normal functioning of joints with chiropractic manipulation techniques. This hands-on approach helps to relieve pain and improve mobility. Therapeutic interventions may take place during several visits over the course of two weeks or more. Most people feel better after the first visit or after just a few treatments from a chiropractor.
- Ultrasound therapy: This treatment from a chiropractor uses sound waves to vibrate injured muscle fibers and promote healing.
- Electrical stimulation: Using low levels of electricity, this treatment releases tension in muscles near the surface of the skin.
- Light therapy: This treatment from a chiropractor sends low levels of light to injured cells and stimulates the body’s natural cell repair process.
- Deep muscle tissue techniques: We use special techniques, such as active release, to loosen tight tissue deep within the muscle.
- Referrals to other Aurora specialists: For tough pain that just won’t quit, we may recommend an evaluation from an orthopedist or neurologist. Our specialists take extra steps to coordinate your care so you don’t have to worry about explaining the tests you’ve had or which doctors you’ve already seen. We may also refer you to other specialists to help you stay comfortable between treatments. For example, if you are experiencing bursts of intense pain (spasms), massage therapy can help.
