Feldenkrais treatment
Find a doctorThe Feldenkrais (fell-den-crise) Method® is a gentle form of exercise to improve the ability to relax and enjoy life. It was developed by Moshe Feldenkrais, D.Sc., an engineer, physicist and martial arts expert, to heal after a severe knee injury. Feldenkrais helps you pay attention to how your body moves so you become more aware of how your bones and other body parts work together. Feldenkrais can help you move more freely and with less pain, improve flexibility and balance, ease stress and fatigue, and improve posture.
It can be helpful if you have:
- Acute or chronic back, neck, muscle or joint pain
- Arthritis
- Fibromyalgia
- Stroke
- Multiple sclerosis
- Parkinson’s disease
Athletes, musicians, dancers or anyone interested in fine tuning their motor skills can also benefit from the Feldenkrais Method®. Learn more about Feldenkrais Method® of Movement [PDF].
What to expect from a Feldenkrais Method class
Certified teachers of the Feldenkrais Method® lead group classes called Awareness Through Movement. In a class, you perform a series of structured exercises that involve thinking, sensing and imagining while moving. The goal is to find new and more effective ways of moving. Most people take at least 6 classes to experience the full benefits.
