Birth control & sexual health

Find a doctor

Our OB-GYNs offer compassionate care to support your sexual health and family planning needs. Aurora’s women’s health experts partner with you to provide the right level of care throughout your life – from adolescence through menopause.

Adolescents

Along with menstruation comes changing bodies and a lot of questions. Our OB-GYNs are experts in reproductive health who are here to support and develop a trusted relationship with young women as they learn to understand their bodies and respond to sexual feelings. They may discuss preventive health including the human papillomavirus (HPV), immunizations, screenings, etc.

Sexually active years

Support for women who are sexually active may include conversations about how to prevent sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and urinary tract infections. We discuss the range of birth control options available for women. And we will encourage regular Pap smear and gynecological exams to keep you healthy as you enter the next stages of life.

Childbearing years

When thinking about becoming pregnant, it's important to talk to your doctor. We offer conception support, including fertility services, if pregnancy isn’t happening as quickly as you’d like.

Pre- and post-menopausal years

If your family is complete, you may again want to discuss birth control options, including permanent solutions. You may also begin to experience menopause-related changes, such as painful intercourse, hot flashes and night sweats. Treatments are available, including prescription and non-prescription options such as hormonal therapy.

Birth control & family planning

Our family planning support may include contraception, depending on your individual needs. We offer the full spectrum of birth control services, including:

  • Birth control pills
  • Birth control shot
  • Long-acting reversible contraception – IUD, arm implants
  • Permanent birth control – including office based-procedures, surgical procedures, tubal ligation

STI prevention & treatment

Preventing STIs comes down to taking the proper precautions. We offer STI testing and guidance on how to protect yourself from STIs, including:

  • Being immunized for HPV
  • Having regular Pap smears and gynecological exams to prevent complications from STIs

Conception & fertility support

When you are ready to start a family, you’ll need pregnancy care from a trusted OB-GYN. We deliver more than 12,000 babies every year, so you can count on us for quality care. If you’re having difficulty becoming pregnant, you can count on our fertility experts to support you.
