Community Mobility and Predriving Assessments

Find a physical therapist

Safe driving protects you, your passengers and others on the road.

Driving represents independence for many people. That independence can be impacted by an injury, chronic medical condition or disability. Aurora Health Care’s Community Mobility and Predriving Assessments are designed to help you safely resume daily activities such as driving.

How to request an assessment

To participate in the Community Mobility and Predriving Assessment Program, you must have a valid driver license and be referred by a physician. The referral must include your medical diagnosis with "OT Driver Evaluation and Treatment” in the comment section of the referral.

What our specialists assess

During your assessment, you’ll meet with a specially trained occupational therapist who will perform a thorough in-clinic evaluation using tools that measure:

  • Memory
  • Reaction time
  • Strength
  • Thinking and attention
  • Vision

The occupational therapist can also make an additional referral to your physician for physical therapy or speech therapy to address any needs related to mobility and driving.
