Sports medicine & primary care
Find a doctorAs an athlete, it’s important you have care that keeps up with your active lifestyle. That’s why many of our primary care doctors have specialized training in sports medicine, serving as team doctors, offering on and off-the-field care during training and games, and treating athletes and active people of all ages. They also work closely with our sports health surgeons before and after surgery – all to keep you safe and in the game.
What injuries and conditions are treated?
In addition to sports injuries, our primary care doctors also offer athletes and active adults ongoing support regarding proper nutrition, exercises and maintaining their physique, as well as referrals should an injury require surgery. You’ll see a doctor on our expert sports medicine team for injuries and conditions such as:
- ACL tears
- Concussions (children and adults)
- Herniated disc
- Knee pain
- Shoulder pain
- Sprains and strains
Comprehensive care for active communities
Many primary care sports medicine doctors offer support beyond injuries and partner with local communities to ensure safe, healthy teams.
- Therapy beyond injury: In addition to specialized training in sports medicine and treating sports injuries, many of our doctors and physical therapists have training in balance and vestibular therapy for lingering concussion symptoms.
- Nonsurgical treatments: As part of our comprehensive approach, we offer nonsurgical treatment options such as chiropractic care, physical therapy and acupuncture.
- Community partnership: Our doctors work with sports teams from elementary school through college, including Division I schools. They attend trainings and are on-call to help with the ongoing health needs of the team, and some also attend games and function as sideline medical professionals.
